  • Performs routine equipment maintenance and reports repair needs.
  • Prepares biohazardous materials and chemicals for proper removal.
  • Monitors laboratory and facility supplies.
  • Verifies that individuals entering restricted laboratory areas have appropriate clearance.
  • Prepares laboratories, equipment, donors, specimens, models, supplies, and PPE for teaching sessions.

Summary

The Anatomical Technician provides support tor the ethical and respectful care for donors in the care of the Willed Body Program, including assisting with donor and specimen inventories, preparation for transport and cremation, and spreading appropriate cremated remains at sea. The Anatomical Technician maintains and cleans the human gross anatomy labs, morgue, chemical storage, and supply storage, and ensures that the anatomy facilities have supplies and that equipment is in good working order.

Job Duties
  • Assists with donor and anatomical specimen inventories.
  • Maintains anatomical specimens used for teaching.
  • Prepares donors for transport and cremation.
  • Assists with the spreading of appropriate cremated remains at sea.
  • Maintains anatomy laboratories, the morgue, chemical storage, supply storage, and related areas in a clean, safe, and functional condition.
  • Cleans and maintains dissection tanks, tables, instruments, and laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance and reports repair needs.
  • Prepares biohazardous materials and chemicals for proper removal.
  • Monitors laboratory and facility supplies.
  • Verifies that individuals entering restricted laboratory areas have appropriate clearance.
  • Prepares laboratories, equipment, donors, specimens, models, supplies, and personal protective equipment for teaching sessions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, moving donors, equipment, and other materials weighing more than 250 pounds using appropriate equipment and safety procedures.
  • Supports faculty and trainees during laboratory sessions with audiovisual equipment, laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Cleans, organizes, and restores teaching areas following laboratory activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in death care industry a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
