Job summary

Powers Health is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Support Assistant to provide broad support across the pathology department, including cytology, histology and specimen prep. This role requires travel between facilities to cover multiple sites.

The position is full-time with dayshift and variable start times, typically with an 80-hour pay period and a 1.0 FTE commitment. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma plus biology/chemistry coursework or 1–3 years of clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Biology and/or Chemistry coursework (>=5 credit hours) or 1-3 years of clinical lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide support across Anatomic Pathology, including cytology, histology, and pathology tasks.
• Assist with grossing, specimen prep, transport workflows, and clerical duties as needed.

Responsible for providing support functions throughout the Anatomic Pathology department, including cytology, histology and pathology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, grossing and special procedure assistance, cytology, gynecological and non-gynecological specimen prep, non-core lab specimen and transport workflows, clerical tasks and general operations of the department. Position requires travel between facilities in order to provide coverage throughout the system. In general, the Anatomic Pathology Support Assistant provides support as needed to supplement the technical tasks of the department. Accountable for all tasks and responsibilities as designated by the CLIA rule and/or delegations made as a result (laboratory documentation delineates this specific information). Fulfills the expectation for the completion of all responsibilities as determined by the applicable CLIA role. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Charge Cytotechnologist, AP General Specialist, Charge Histology Tech/Histology Senior Technologist and/or AP Laboratory Supervisor, Department Supervisor, Laboratory Administrative Director, Site Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Medical Director.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

High School graduate or equivalent, plussuccessful completion of >=5 credit hours of college-level Biology/Chemistry or 1-3 years of clinical lab experience.
