Job summary

UF Health Leesburg Hospital in Leesburg, FL seeks a capable Anatomic Pathology Assistant to perform computer accessioning of surgical, cytology, and flow cytometry specimens under supervision. Responsibilities include processing, documentation, and coordination with surgical teams and couriers to ensure timely specimen handling.

The role requires 1–3 years' experience, familiarity with ICD-10/CPT codes, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• 1-3 years experience required.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Position Performance Evaluation Completion
• Monitors, maintains AP supply orders
• Competent in accessioning specimens in Cerner, Star, Copia
• Exhibits exceptional customer service skills with outside offices and medical staff
• Faxes/scans documents
• Schedules frozen section procedures
• Knows how to do Send-Out specimens
• Review Laboratory policies that pertain to job
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Orders specimen pick-ups through lab couriers
• Familiarity with ICD-10 codes, CPT codes
• Performs Cytology processing, when needed
• Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame
• Attends Staff Meetings
• Required competencies and mandatory education as assigned
• Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, and peers
