Job Description
  • Req#: R35839 The Anatomic Pathology Division Quality/Education Supervisor serves as a technical specialist to develop and administer procedures, policies, and principles pertinent to the area of technical specialty.
  • The Anat Path Div Qual/Ed Supervisor acts as a clinical educator to students and staff, mentoring less experienced staff regarding policies and procedures in Anatomic Pathology, and assumes a leadership role within department units.
  • Develops, administers, and supervises a comprehensive Quality Compliance CAP Inspection Program, overseeing process control, systems monitoring, mandates, and checklists. Provides oversight of the Quality Program, including assessments, inspections, audits, change control processes, SOP management, and compliance activities.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Performs and documents quality control records following SOPs, applying guidelines appropriately, and initiating corrective actions when results are outside acceptable limits.
  • Reviews CAP checklists across various sections of Anatomic Pathology, ensuring compliance for self-inspections and on-site inspections, working collaboratively with section teams.
  • Oversees daily documentation and preventive maintenance of instrumentation, monitors equipment, troubleshoots issues, and initiates service calls as needed, ensuring minimal delays in patient results.
  • Communicates problems and malfunctions to supervisors and team members.
  • Oversees training of new employees, students, and residents on procedures, policies, and principles related to their technical specialty.
  • Ensures all team members complete required education, safety training, and CAP surveys, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Manages change control processes, SOP updates, quality management activities, and deviation reporting.
  • Participates in regular meetings with department leadership, researches and drafts new SOPs, and supports manual maintenance.
  • Develops training resources and checklists, provides guidance on SOP adherence, and offers remedial training as needed.
  • Completes at least 8 CE credits annually, including mandated training and departmental competency assessments.
Patient Population

Provides equitable care tailored to the age-specific needs of patients, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Life, Health, or Biological Science required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Licensing/Certification: Certified as a Cytotechnologist (CT), Pathologists’ Assistant (PA), Histotechnologist (HTL), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in a relevant role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

Includes exposure to high noise, bright lights, hazardous substances, body fluids, and potential infectious materials. Physical demands include lifting, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity, with specific sensory and emotional capabilities required for the role.

Additional Information

Must adhere to universal precautions, use PPE, and follow infection control policies.
