Job summary

Tempus AI, Inc. in Chicago, IL seeks an experienced anatomic pathologist to conduct preliminary pathology reviews and IHC sign-out for research and clinical specimens. You will collaborate across disciplines, contribute to AI initiatives, and help maintain CLIA/CAP compliance.

The role is on-site in downtown Chicago with a focus on PD-L1, MMR, and other predictive biomarkers, and may involve a non-traditional Tue–Sat schedule. Competitive salary is offered based on experience.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Illinois medical license and board-certification in Anatomic Pathology.
• 1–2 years of anatomic pathology sign-out experience preferred; exceptional recent graduates welcome.
• Excellent managerial, organizational, reporting and communication skills.
• Experience in regulated clinical laboratories (CLIA/CAP/NYSDOH/QSR).
• Experience ensuring regulatory compliance in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary pathology review (H&E) for NGS specimens, research and clinical.
• IHC sign-out with focus on non-22c3 PD-L1 clones, challenging MMR cases and other biomarkers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on biological questions and Tempus Molecular Ontology cohorts.
• Participate in research projects and lab innovation, including AI initiatives and new assay validation.
• Assist AP Lab Director with CLIA/CAP compliance and proficiency testing.
• Assist with contractor questions, scheduling and PLC education/training.
• Contribute to SOP documentation and workflow improvements for PLCs and pathologists.
• Typically M-F; option to discuss Tue–Sat schedule.
