Job description

Job Title: Anatomic and Investigative Pathology (AIP) Technician

Location: Groton, CT

Type: Contract

Responsibilities
  1. Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  2. Read, understand, and follow the study protocol, including the connection between the study protocol and Pristima protocol.
  3. Conduct all aspects of necropsy and histology phases of rodent and non-rodent safety studies, including study setup, necropsy, tissue trimming, processing, slide cutting, staining, data collection, documentation, quality control review, and data archiving.
  4. Ensure availability and suitability of supplies and equipment for study conduct; generate forms, labels, and other materials as required.
  5. Perform self-review of necropsy/histology data for accuracy and completeness; document and correct errors; notify study personnel as needed.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or technical issues related to necropsy/histology components.
  7. Communicate with management, study director, comparative medicine, and support staff to ensure protocol compliance, animal welfare, and proactive protocol adjustments.
Requirements

Minimum: 4 years applicable histology experience; or Associates degree in Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with HT (ASCP) and 2 years relevant histology experience; or B.S. in Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with 1 year relevant histology experience.

Preferred: Over 7 years relevant histology experience, or Associates degree with over 3 years of necropsy/histology experience, HT (ASCP) certification preferred; or B.S. with over 1 year relevant experience. HT certification is preferred but not required.

Technical Skills
  • Training in histology/necropsy and laboratory techniques for in vivo studies in multiple species (rat, mouse, dog, NHP) in a GLP environment.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems, spreadsheets, or data management systems.
  • Effective team player; accurate data recorder; able to follow instructions; maintains professionalism and effective communication.
