Job summary

Air Liquide USA LLC in Bayport, TX is seeking an Analyzer Technician to install, calibrate, repair and maintain complex process analytical equipment across our plant operations.

You will work with GC, spectrometers, pH meters, CEMs, and control systems (DCS/SCADA), perform calibrations, troubleshooting, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. This role requires a minimum of a 2-year technical diploma and hands-on instrumentation experience, with forklift operation as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year technical school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Highly organized with ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Able to maintain, repair, and calibrate analyzers, transmitters, control valves, etc.
• Fundamental understanding of MCC/switchgear and facility processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to operate forklift.

Location: Bayport, TX - ASU

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. An experienced industrialist is a highly specialized professional who installs, calibrates, repairs, and maintains complex process analytical equipment. They act as the vital link between physical chemistry, electronics, and plant operations to ensure product quality, process control, and environmental compliance.

Key skills and competencies include:

1. Technical & Instrumentation Expertise

• Advanced Analyzer Technologies: Deep knowledge of, and hands‑on experience with, devices like Gas Chromatographs (GCs), spectrometers, pH/conductivity meters, oxygen detectors, and continuous emission monitors (CEMs).
• Sample Handling Systems: Proficiency in designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the sample conditioning systems (tubing, valves, pumps, filters) that deliver representative samples to the analyzers.
• Calibration & Testing: Ability to use precise calibration tools and standards to certify that equipment yields accurate and repeatable measurements

2. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving

• Root Cause Analysis: Strong electro‑mechanical aptitude to quickly identify the root cause of analyzer failure and implement corrective actions.
• Signal Analysis: Capability to interpret peak integration, gating techniques, and spectral data (e.g., IR/UV absorption) to diagnose instrument drift or faults.

3. Electronics & Control Systems

• Process Automation: Familiarity with plant‑wide automation and control networks, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
• Industrial Protocols & Wiring: Understanding of industrial communication standards (e.g., HART, Modbus), loop checks, and the ability to read complex Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and electrical schematics.

4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Hazardous Environments: Strict adherence to safety protocols for explosive or toxic environments (e.g., hazardous area classifications).
• Emissions & Safety Standards: Knowledge of environmental and safety guidelines required by agencies like the EPA and OSHA

5. Soft Skills

• Cross‑functional Collaboration: Ability to communicate clearly with control room operators, plant engineers, and mechanics to resolve plant‑wide process or instrument deviations.
• Documentation & Record‑Keeping: Diligent maintenance of equipment logs, calibration records, and ISO‑compliant documentation

• Knowledge of the use of a computerized maintenance management system.

• Basic understanding of the facility's control system, with the ability to develop detailed understanding.
• Thorough knowledge of the operation and safety aspects of the MCC/switchgear.
• Basic understanding of the facility's process, with the ability to develop detailed understanding.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills.
• Able to operate forklift and other machinery
• Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non‑immigrant visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years I&E experience, plant environment preferred.
