Job summary

Slalom is hiring analytics engineers to design and modernize semantic layers enabling self-service analytics, AI, and cross-platform reporting.

You will design data-rich applications blending Power BI, Tableau, Sigma with open-source tools and lead sessions translating business needs into actionable data models. Hybrid, client-facing work with travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of analytics engineering, data engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years leading project teams and complex work streams.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or Python; experience with semantic layer tools and analytics platforms (dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and analytics solution design.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modernize semantic layers for self-service analytics and cross-platform reporting.
• Develop data-rich apps combining standard software with open-source tech (e.g., Streamlit).
• Lead design sessions translating insights into data models and solutions.
• Develop and optimize data models using SQL, Python, or similar.
• Collaborate with data engineers/scientists and stakeholders to ensure data quality and usability.
• Implement data integration, governance, and analytics enablement best practices.
• Deliver integrated analytics experiences beyond dashboards with user-centric solutions.
• Stay current with emerging analytics engineering tools and AI/data platform trends.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and modernize semantic layers to enable self-service analytics, AI, and cross-platform reporting
• Design and develop data-rich applications that blend standard software (Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, or similar) with open-source technologies (e.g., Streamlit)
• Facilitate design and requirements sessions with business and technical teams, translating insights into actionable data models and technical solutions
• Develop and optimize data models using SQL, Python, or other relevant languages
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to ensure data quality, usability, and alignment with business goals
• Implement best practices for data integration, governance, and analytics enablement
• Contribute to the delivery of integrated analytics experiences, moving beyond traditional dashboards to deliver holistic, user-centric solutions
• Stay current with emerging tools and techniques in analytics engineering, AI, and data platforms

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field
• 3 - 5 years of leading project teams and complex work streams
• Proficiency in SQL and/or Python; experience with semantic layer tools and analytics platforms (e.g., dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma)
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and analytics solution design
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Fluency in white boarding and design solutions for data mapping and user experience requirements
• Exposure to or interest in AI/ML integration and modern data architectures
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Work Model:

Hybrid and client-facing, with travel based on engagement needs. Up to 25 - 50% travel

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges:

• Boston, NYC, NJ, Washington DC:
  • Senior Consultant: $116,000 – $145,000
• All other locations:
  • Senior Consultant: $106,000 – $135,000

In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
