Job summary

A well-funded Series B, YC backed software company is hiring for a Product Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to build out the data layer behind product usage insights.

The role requires strong Python, SQL, and dbt skills, plus scripting, ETL/ELT, and data modeling to transform granular product data into clean datasets for dashboards and reporting. Expect ownership of end-to-end data flow with engineering support.

Qualifications

• Ability to design data models and transformations end-to-end.

Job description

I’m working with a well-funded Series B, YC backed software company that’s hiring a Product Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to help build out the data layer behind how they understand product usage.

They’re looking for someone strong in Python, SQL, dbt, scripting, ETL/ELT, and data modeling who can take very granular raw product data and turn it into cleaner, higher-level datasets the business can actually use.

A big part of the job will be building tables that answer questions around how customers are using the product, which features they’re engaging with, when they’re using them, and how that behavior changes over time, then feeding that data into dashboards and internal reporting.

They currently use dbt, Fivetran, and Hex, although experience with other BI/dashboarding tools like Tableau is completely fine. There’s engineering support around the role, but they want someone technical enough to independently understand databases, write transformations, and own the flow from raw data through to usable product insights.
