THE ROLE

We’re hiring a Data and Analytics Engineer to establish and scale our internal data capabilities. This is a high-impact, foundational role where you’ll work across the stack—from ingesting and modeling data to surfacing metrics and insights that drive key decisions. You’ll be both the architect and analyst, building pipelines, defining metrics, designing visualizations, and translating complex data into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust data pipelines to collect, transform, and analyze data from various sources
• Evaluate and select tooling and workflows to set up a scalable data environment that supports Baseten’s growth
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Product and Engineering, GTM, and Finance teams to understand their goals and data needs
• Define and model core business metrics that support decision-making and performance tracking
• Create clean, intuitive dashboards and reports, ensuring data is easy to access and interpret
• Ensure high data reliability and consistency across systems and teams
• Establish best practices for data quality, testing, and documentation
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a data, analytics, or BI-focused role with proven ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation
• Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines, with a strong focus on data cleanliness and integrity
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for data transformation and analysis
• Experience working with modern data stack tools—for example dbt Labs, Airflow, Segment, Fivetran, BigQuery, and Looker
• Solid understanding of metrics relevant to B2B SaaS businesses with a PLG motion
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams
• An ownership mindset: you’re excited to be the first hire in this role and to shape how data works at Baseten
