Job summary

Lilly, headquartered in Indianapolis, is seeking an Analytical Chemist to drive characterization and optimization of novel drug candidates within the Small Molecule Discovery group.

You will collaborate with medicinal chemists to provide analytical insights guiding synthesis and progression decisions, employing LC-MS, SFC-MS, LC-MS/MS, and high-resolution MS to assess purity, stability, and structural characterization.

Qualifications

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related field with 5+ years post-education hands-on LC-MS, SFC-MS, LC-MS/MS and physicochemical techniques in small molecule discovery.
• Masters with 10+ years post-education hands-on LC-MS, SFC-MS, LC-MS/MS and physicochemical techniques in a small molecule pharmaceutical discovery environment.
• Proven track record determining physicochemical properties and driving cross-functional impact on drug design and development.

Responsibilities

• Characterize physicochemical properties of new chemical entities and drug candidates using direct measurements or surrogate methods like SFC-MS and LC-MS.
• Develop and optimize LC-MS methods for purity, identity, and stability analysis.
• Process and interpret complex chromatographic and spectrometric data to inform project decisions.
