Position: Analytical Chemist Night Supervisor
Reports To: LCMS Manager
Location: St. Louis, MO
Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $27/hr
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM

Position Summary
The Confirmation Supervisor/Lead Chemist will lead the Confirmation team at our St. Louis Laboratory, managing specimen preparation for drug testing using LC/MS/MS and GC/MS instrumentation. This role involves ensuring efficient workflow, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and technical troubleshooting to support high-quality laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Supervision:
Oversee and mentor the Confirmation team, including training new staff on sample preparation, LC-MS/MS operation, and data review.
Assist with hiring, scheduling, and staffing needs for the Confirmation department.
Ensure efficient task prioritization and provide daily supervision for team operations.
Technical Operations and Instrumentation:
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS and GC-MS instruments (Sciex experience preferred).
Prepare reagents and oversee laboratory maintenance (e.g., cleaning glassware, restocking supplies).
Perform and review confirmation assays according to toxicology testing methods.
Regulatory Compliance and Process Optimization:
Review and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
Monitor progress reports, pending samples, reagents, inventory levels, and expiration dates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Communicate with other departments to resolve issues impeding confirmation tests on patient samples.
Interface with analytical instruments and assist with oversight of production samples.
Additional Duties:
Provide timely progress updates to the management team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or LCMS Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a relevant Science field (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology).
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
Proven expertise in operating LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS instruments.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform sample preparation and data review.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
Proficiency in using computers, monitors, cell phones, and general office equipment.
Ability to work calmly under pressure, follow instructions, and travel as needed.

$27.00 per hour
