Job Summary

IFF is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to work in the Advanced Analytical Biosciences group located at the Wilmington, Delaware site. The successful candidate will develop HPLC and LC-MS based bioanalytical methods to support various business problems and research programs.

This role involves close collaboration with scientists from multiple disciplines, including chemists, biochemists, micro- and molecular biologists, and fermentation engineers. The ideal candidate should be adaptive, self-motivated, passionate about science, and thrive in a team environment.

The position is based at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, and is 100% laboratory-based.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform sample preparations, including organic solvent extractions, dilutions, and filtrations prior to analysis.
2. Troubleshoot instrument issues, perform system maintenance, and prepare analytical standards.
3. Conduct research under guidance from experienced R&D or technical team leaders.
4. Utilize computer systems and software (Microsoft Office, data acquisition programs) to acquire and document results.
5. Collaborate effectively with colleagues on laboratory techniques, instrumentation, data analysis, documentation, and safety.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 3-5 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of experience.
2. 3-5 years of experience with HPLC sample preparation and analysis.
3. Familiarity with Thermo instrumentation and Chromeleon software is preferred.
4. Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols for hazardous agents and chemicals.
5. Intermediate understanding of chemistry concepts, practices, procedures, and regulations.
6. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
8. Strong teamwork skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
