Job summary

First Solar is seeking a laboratory analyst to conduct routine analysis in support of recycling, wastewater, raw material production, procurement, and refinement. Responsibilities include sampling, instrumentation operation and maintenance, data management, and maintaining a clean lab environment.

Qualifications include an associate degree in chemistry or related field, with a BA/BS preferred, and at least 3 years in an analytical lab.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in chemistry or closely related field required.
  • BA or BS in chemistry or closely related field preferred.
  • Coursework in analytical chemistry, polymers, and inorganic or solid-state chemistry preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory environment or academic equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in an environment involving polymer analysis, thermal analysis, and wet chemistry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine analysis, under supervision, of materials using defined methods.
  • Operate and maintain ICP OES and/or MS instrumentation or equivalent instrumentation.
  • Keep complete and accurate records of laboratory activities.
  • Manage data including transcription to spreadsheets and other software.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment to protect sample integrity.
  • Work safely at all times and report safety issues to management.
  • Contribute to development of new analytical methods.
  • Conduct projects to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure waste materials are discarded in designated containers.
  • Ensure hazardous waste containers stay closed except when adding/removing waste.
