Job summary

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences. This Chemist I role is based in Clackamas, OR, part of the Health & Biosciences team.

You will perform routine chemical analyses of dietary supplement materials using HPLC, HPTLC, GC-FID, and ICP-MS in a cGMP-regulated lab. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage workload while maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and AOAC requirements.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemistry or related field.
  • 0–2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Exposure to ISO/IEC 17025, AOAC, cGMP, or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document routine chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using approved analytical methods.
  • Utilize instrumentation including HPLC, HPTLC, UV-Vis, GC-FID, and ICP-MS.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and laboratory solutions per procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records and calculations to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist with investigations of non-conformances under guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist with method verifications and implementation of laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Participate in training activities and continued development of technical skills.
