Responsible for the analysis of equine samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory. This is grant funded, approved as a 3-year position, continuation contingent on funding. Position located in Kennett Square, PA. No public transportation available.
Job Description
The Research Specialist A will be responsible for the analysis of equine samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory. A specialist at this level is expected to have general knowledge of mass spectrometry and ELISA, however will spend time getting hands on experience with all of the methods used in the laboratory by rotating through the various tests. Differences in salary reflect differences in the number of types of tests each person is proficient in performing.
The Research Specialist B is responsible for the analysis of equine samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory. At this level the specialist can independently operate multiple types of mass spectrometers and has progressed to assisting with research projects, including reviewing the literature, designing experiments and conducting experiments with assistance from the Analytical Research and Forensics Coordinator, Forensics Project Manager, and Laboratory Director.

Analytical Chemist A
Qualified individuals would preferably have a BS in chemistry, and 0 to 1 years experience with liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and ELISA. Strict attention to detail and the ability to collaborate well with others is required.
Analytical Chemist B
Qualified individuals would preferably have a BS in chemistry, and 1 to 2 years experience with liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and ELISA. Strict attention to detail and the ability to collaborate well with others is required.
