Job summary

Entegris in Burnet, TX is seeking an Analytical Chemist for the 2nd shift (Sun–Thu, 1pm–10pm, times vary). You will analyze and characterize materials used in semiconductor devices and develop/optimize analytical methods for QC support.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry or related field is required.
  • 2+ years operating, troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instrumentation (LC, LC-MS, IC, IC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES); cleanroom experience preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office; LIMS experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe handling and disposal of chemicals; maintain a clean workspace.
  • Proven track record of safe, accurate lab work; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Commitment to continual learning and participation in special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety and quality culture within the lab.
  • Prepare and conduct analyses on routine and non-routine samples using ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, IC, XRF, UV-Vis, NIR, KF.
  • Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data for traceability and compliance.
  • Maintain instrumentation, tools, chemicals, and consumables for testing.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on instruments.
  • Verify sample and chemical storage and disposal; ensure data integrity.
  • Lead or support initiatives to improve testing methods and practices.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization; support high-quality data.
  • Compile and present data for cross-functional projects and continuous improvement.
  • Work on cross-functional teams as analytical SME and train others.

Job Description

The Role:


Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking a Scientist II, Production Analytical Chemist to join our team. This will be a 2nd shift role- Sunday to Thursday with times varying from 1pm to 10pm. Come help analyze and characterize the materials that help design, deliver, and optimize some of the most critical semiconductor devices in the world. We are seeking a Chemist with in-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques applied to the characterization of complex mixtures. This knowledge is required to troubleshoot, develop, and optimize analytical methods for routine and non-routine QC analysis to support the Manufacturing and Engineering Teams. Due to the complex nature of sample matrices, this opportunity allows the right person to expand upon their technical skill set and participate on a dynamic team in a growing organization.


The ideal candidate will be results and detail oriented, strive to be an excellent team player, and be able to apply their solid knowledge of chemistry, mechanical inclination, good lab practices, and familiarity with the criticality of materials science in the semiconductor industry.


What You'll Do


  • Demonstrate leadership in maintaining safety and quality culture

  • Prepare and conduct chemical and/or physical analyses as defined by existing work instructions on routine and non-routine samples using analytical instruments including: ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, XRF, UV-Vis, NIR, KF, etc.

  • Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data to ensure completion, conformity, traceability, and validity and support production and other internal/external customer needs; Take corrective action when necessary

  • Maintain instrumentation, tools, chemicals, and consumables required for product testing purposes

  • Effectively troubleshoot instruments and resolve any hardware or software issues

  • Verify the efficacy of samples and ensure that all samples and chemicals are properly stored or disposed

  • Propose/Lead/Support initiatives to foster continuous improvement of new or existing testing methods and practices

  • Maintain housekeeping and proper Laboratory cleanliness to support high quality trace-level data



  • Compile and present data and presentations to communicate data and other relevant information for continuous improvement, method development/validation, and other projects

  • Work on cross-functional teams as the analytical subject matter expert

  • Train other personnel to analyze samples or perform other laboratory tasks


What We Seek


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry or relevant area of study is required.

  • 2+ years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation (LC, LC-MS, IC, IC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES), ICP-MS, trace metals, and cleanroom experience strongly preferred

  • Advanced computer knowledge, including MS Office; LIMS experience preferred

  • Knowledge and demonstration of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace

  • Proven record of completing lab work safely, correctly, efficiently, timely, and independently

  • Expand upon personal job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, special project teams, and reading technical publications

  • Ability to multi-task and balance independent, teamwork, and time effectively

  • Dedication to meticulous attention to detail and organization

  • Strong dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and ability to safely perform routine repetitive motions

  • Advanced mechanical inclination and experience operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment

  • Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week, Evening shift. Weekend availability is required as part of the rotating shift. Flexibility is essential to accommodate changing shift assignments
