Job summary

Lonza in Bend, Oregon is seeking an enthusiastic Entry-Level Quality Control (QC) Analytical Chemist to join a cGMP-regulated laboratory. You will perform routine analytical testing to ensure our raw materials and finished products meet the highest quality and safety standards.

The role is fully on-site; a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field is required. You will operate instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and support method transfer under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related scientific discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of analytical chemistry techniques and cGMP regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and basic troubleshooting for analytical instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and electronic laboratory systems (LIMS).
  • This role is fully on-site to foster close collaboration and daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Routine Sample Testing: execute testing for the release of raw materials, in-process intermediates, and finished products, and test cleaning validation samples.
  • Laboratory Operations: perform basic wet chemistry and laboratory operations following safety and cGMP protocols.
  • Instrumentation: operate and maintain analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, Dissolution) for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Method Support: assist in development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods under supervision.
  • Good Documentation Practices (GDP): maintain ALCOA-compliant records and peer-review laboratory notebooks.
  • Quality Documentation: draft, review, and update SOPs, BTPs, and validation protocols under supervision.
  • Compliance & Auditing: support audits by maintaining an audit-ready work environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Entry-Level Quality Control (QC) Analytical Chemist to join our team in a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical laboratory at our Lonza site in Bend, Oregon. In this role, you will perform routine analytical testing and basic laboratory operations to ensure our raw materials and finished products meet the highest quality and safety standards.

  • Method Support: Assist in the development, validation, and/or transfer of analytical methods under the direct supervision of senior chemists.
  • Good Documentation Practices (GDP): Maintain accurate, ALCOA-compliant records and ensure thorough peer-review of laboratory notebooks.
  • Quality Documentation: Draft, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Batch Testing Protocols (BTPs), and validation protocols (BTP-VALs) under direct supervision.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Support laboratory compliance during internal and external audits by maintaining a clean, audit-ready work environment.
