Job summary

Kroll’s Global Trade and Customs Team invites applications for a Trade and Customs Intern to contribute to a range of projects across trade compliance, customs and tariff analyses, and industry research.

You will prepare import/export documentation, classify goods, liaise with brokers and internal teams, and conduct market research with senior leaders; expected graduation 2027–2028 and a 3.2 GPA are requested.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or Management with an economics/finance concentration.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
  • Major GPA of 3.2.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in trade compliance, customs, and FTZ (Foreign Trade Zones).
  • Prepare and submit import/export documentation for customs clearance.
  • Classify goods using HTS and assess duties and trade program eligibility (e.g., USMCA, GSP).
  • Maintain records of import/export activity for audit readiness and compliance.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to resolve issues.

Job description

Join Kroll's Global Trade and Customs Team and gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of Transfer Pricing, Trade and Customs. We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to contribute as new joiners in our Trade and Customs Group.

The Trade and Customs Intern will contribute to a broad range of assignments, including conducting financial customs and tariff analyses, supporting international trade and customs projects, and performing global and country-specific industry research. The role also involves carrying out microeconomic analyses to help companies comply with customs and international trade regulations, optimize their supply chains, and reduce potential tariff exposure.

Day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Experience in trade compliance, customs, and Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ)

Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, including U.S. Customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements.

Prepare and submit import/export documentation (e.g., entry summaries, commercial invoices, packing lists) to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance.

Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and assess duties, taxes, and trade program eligibility (e.g., USMCA, GSP).

Maintain and monitor records of import/export activity to ensure audit readiness and compliance with customs regulations.

Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to resolve import/export issues and ensure smooth cross-border transactions.

Performing financial and statistical analysis for clients that include Fortune 500 companies, top ranked law firms, non-profits, and government organizations.

Conducting interviews with our clients’ executive leadership teams to gather focused insight into their company’s global customs and international trade operations.

Undertaking in-depth company, industry, and market research.

Writing client reports, speaking at seminars, and preparing industry articles.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or Management (with a concentration in Economics or Finance) or other degree (with a minimum of four Junior and/or Senior level courses in Economics or Finance) from an accredited university or college.

  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028
  • Major GPA of 3.2

Attention to detail, ability to manage time and work flow & work on multiple assignments.

Demonstrated ability to focus on quality work.
