Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeks an Analyst to administer Tax Favored Programs including 401(k), 457, FSA, and Commuter Benefits for all agencies. You will access and analyze data via PeopleSoft, answer inquiries, and ensure timely flow of information between employees, agencies, headquarters, and vendors.

Strong Excel/Office skills and the ability to explain plan features are essential. A BA/BS and 1 year of related experience are preferred; telework is allowed one day per week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Accounting, or Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in payroll, benefits, accounting, or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day administration of the MTA Tax Favored Programs (401(k), 457, FSA, Commuter).
  • Prepare Tax Favored Program reports and perform basic reconciliations.
  • Respond to participant questions promptly; navigate vendor sites to resolve inquiries.
  • Update employee benefits in PeopleSoft and run reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

| SALARY RANGE: | $62,811 – $78,513 |
| DEADLINE: | Until filled |

This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

Job Summary:

This position will assist in the administration of the Tax Favored Programs, which include the 401(k) Plan, 457 Plan, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Plan, and the Commuter Benefit Plan for all agencies of the MTA. The Analyst will access, analyze, and interpret data from our PeopleSoft system, answer employee inquiries, and be responsible for the accurate and timely flow of Financial, Payroll, and Human Resources interaction between employees, agencies, headquarters, and vendors. In addition, the Analyst will help to ensure the programs are following MTA guidelines, policies, objectives, and resolve vendor or file interface issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the day-to-day administration of the MTA Tax Favored Programs, which includes the 401(k) Plan, 457 Plan, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and the Commuter Transportation Benefit.
  • Assist in the preparation of various Tax Favored Program reports
  • Responsible for performing basic reconciliatory processes
  • Responsible for quickly and accurately responding to all participant questions related to Tax Favored Programs
  • Ability to navigate various vendor websites to help resolve employee inquiries or issues
  • Update various employee benefit changes in PeopleSoft and run reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of computer applications for business such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Assured communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with staff and representatives of constituent agencies.
  • Proficient time and task management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and explain benefit plan features to employees at various levels within the organization.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Accounting, or Human Resources. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a business setting – payroll, benefits, accounting, or a similar role.
The Following is/are preferred:
  • Knowledge of the MTA and its Agencies as well as a general background of the role of public benefit organizations.
  • Prior experience administering 401(k), FSA, or other employee benefit plans.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and preparation.
  • Experience with Oracle’s PeopleSoft (HRIS) application.
  • Desire to advance within the department through experience and by taking advantage of available educational tools.
Other Information

May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)

Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites.
