Job summary

NineDot Energy is seeking an Analyst, Project Finance to join its team in New York. You will develop financial models, perform detailed analyses, and support new project development and competitive bids.

You will present insights to leadership and collaborate with investment banks, tax equity investors, and external consultants, gaining broad experience across project finance from evaluation to completion.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in project finance or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience in energy, real estate, or tax equity sectors strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with proficiency in building and iterating complex financial models.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and iterate on project finance models to evaluate project economics from concept through future cash flow projections.
  • Support lender processes, analyze financing proposals, and prepare closing deliverables.
  • Review and interpret financial data, due diligence documentation, and legal materials with lenders and legal counsel.
  • Work closely with the project development team to screen new projects and ensure financial models reflect project assumptions and risks.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess financial viability of new ventures and investment opportunities.
  • Prepare projection models and finalize designs to evaluate capital investments and proposals.
  • Calculate IRRs, DSCRs, and perform sensitivity analysis across scenarios.
  • Support economic review and interpretation of M&A opportunities.
  • Support RFP processes through analysis of key terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and manage project-specific deliverables related to financial or contractual requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, IRA regulatory changes, and market developments.
  • Make recommendations for strategic adjustments based on market analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About this Role

The Analyst, Project Finance position is a key role within NineDot Energy’s financial operations team. This analyst will play a crucial role in developing financial models, conducting comprehensive financial analysis and due diligence, and preparing detailed financial and operational reports. The role involves evaluating strategic investments, supporting new project development initiatives, and assisting with competitive bids. The analyst will also be responsible for presenting financial insights and recommendations to key stakeholders, including company leadership. The position offers valuable exposure to various aspects of project finance, including collaboration with investment banks, tax equity investors, and external financial consultants. The analyst will work cross-functionally with multiple teams throughout NineDot Energy, gaining broad experience in all aspects of project finance from initial evaluation through project completion. This role reports to the Director, Project Finance and is classified as exempt under FLSA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, maintain, and iterate on project finance models to evaluate project economics from concept through future cash flow projections
  • Support lender processes, analyze financing proposals, and prepare closing deliverables
  • Review and interpret financial data, due diligence documentation, and legal materials with lenders and legal counsel
  • Work closely with the project development team to screen new projects and ensure financial models accurately reflect project assumptions and risks
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the financial viability of new ventures and investment opportunities
  • Collect necessary information, prepare projection models, and finalize designs to evaluate capital investments and proposals
  • Calculate project and equity internal rates of return (IRRs), debt service coverage ratios (DSCRs), and conduct sensitivity analysis scenarios
  • Support economic review and interpretation of potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities
  • Support development and request for proposal (RFP) processes through analysis of economic impact of key terms and conditions
  • Prepare and manage project-specific deliverables related to financial or contractual requirements
  • Stay current with renewable energy industry trends, financial market developments, and regulatory changes including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
  • Make recommendations for strategic adjustments based on market and regulatory analysis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in project finance or mergers and acquisitions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in areas of project proposals, project finance structures, and regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of financial accountabilities related to managing multiple projects
  • Experience in the energy, real estate, or tax equity sectors strongly preferred
  • Prior project finance roles or relevant experience strongly preferred
  • Strong financial modeling skills with proficiency in building and iterating complex financial models
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in equity and debt fundraising and optimizing capital structure
  • Knowledge of project finance documentation and experience with financial closing work either as a project developer or financier
