Job Summary:
- The Analyst supports strategic and performance initiatives for NRG’s Energy Retail business. The role requires a highly analytical, problem-solving, and effective communicator. The Analyst must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess high intellectual curiosity, and focus on results. Responsibilities include financial planning, reporting, cost management, and portfolio optimization, working across multiple functional groups such as Performance Management, Sales, Business Development, Segment Reporting, Digital, Marketing, and FP&A.
- The role is key in optimizing business activities, unlocking business intelligence, and enhancing data-driven decision-making. The candidate will apply advanced analytical skills to assess data, identify deficiencies, and summarize findings in reports. Understanding the financial impact of trends and operational metrics throughout the customer lifecycle is essential.
- Monitor and track KPIs, leverage metrics like NPV, IRR, Payback Period, and respond promptly to maintain operational performance and support decision-making.
- Collaborate with business units to develop, improve, and integrate processes and analytics, interpreting customer trends from large datasets.
- Develop and maintain automated reports and dashboards that provide valuable performance insights and financial metrics.
- Audit and validate data sources to ensure data integrity and reliability for analysis.
- Create ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Combination of open office and hybrid work environment
- Some overtime may be required for special projects
- Minimal travel
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, data analytics, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in financial modeling or data analytics, or equivalent
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, SQL, or similar
- Experience developing metrics, KPIs, and business intelligence architecture
- Experience querying multiple databases
- Proficiency with MS Office and programming skills preferred
- Ability to work with incomplete data and open-ended questions, translating into actionable insights
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
