Job summary

Elevate is seeking a Performance Engineering Analyst to transform SCADA and operational data into actionable insights across BESS and BESS+Solar portfolios. You will quantify performance losses and work with Asset Management, Engineering, and suppliers to improve availability, energy production, reliability, and revenue.

Responsibilities include monitoring with SCADA/DAS/BMS/EMS, calculating solar/BESS KPIs, and preparing performance reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics, computer science, physics, renewable energy or related field with 1–3 years of experience.
• Experience analyzing time-series/operational data; identify data gaps, outliers, sensor issues, timestamps; advanced Excel; Python or SQL working proficiency.
• Ability to investigate issues, quantify impacts, and communicate findings across multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor portfolio performance using SCADA, DAS, BMS, EMS, and analytics platforms; review asset health, alarms, availability, and trends.
• Compare actual performance with budgets, forecasts, weather-adjusted expectations, and contractual requirements.
• Calculate solar KPIs: performance ratio, availability, capacity factor, degradation, and forecast-to-actual production.
• Analyze BESS KPIs: system/PCS availability, dispatch adherence, efficiency, degradation, and state of health.
• Investigate underperformance; distinguish equipment failures from weather, curtailment, data-quality issues.
• Quantify lost energy and revenue exposure; prioritize findings by impact; prepare concise summaries for stakeholders.
• Support testing, degradation studies, warranty analyses, and root-cause investigations with senior staff.

Position Summary

• The Performance Engineering Analyst supports the operational and financial performance ofElevate’sBESS and BESS + Solar portfolio. This role transformsSCADA, operational, and commercial data into actionable insights; identifies and quantifies performance losses; and works withCommercialAsset Management,Technical Asset Management, Engineering, O&M providers, and equipment suppliers to improve asset availability, energy production, reliability, and revenue. The analyst will own recurring performance analysis andtechnicalreporting while supporting more complex testing, degradation, warranty, and controlsprograms.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Monitoring and Analysis

• Monitor portfolio performance using SCADA, DAS, BMS, EMS, telemetry,firesystemand analytics platforms; review asset health, alarms, availability, and operating trends.

• Compare actual performance with budgets, forecasts, weather-adjusted expectations, engineering models, and contractual performance requirements.

• Calculate and interpret solar KPIs including performance ratio, availability, capacity factor, irradiance variance, degradation, and forecast-to-actual production.

• Analyze BESS KPIs including system and PCS availability, dispatch adherence, round-trip efficiency, auxiliary consumption, usable capacity, throughput, cycling, state of charge, and state ofhealth.IssueInvestigation and Resolution

• Investigate routine and moderately complex underperformance, distinguishing equipment failures from weather, curtailment, soiling, clipping, derates, control events, and data-quality issues.

• Quantify lost energy, unavailable capacity, and associated revenue exposure; prioritize findings based on operational andfinancial impact.

• Prepare concise issue summaries andrecommendednext steps for Asset Management, Operations, Engineering, O&M providers, OEMs, and other stakeholders.

• Track corrective actions through resolution,validateperformance recovery, and document recurring or systemic issues across the fleet.

Reporting Data and Continuous Improvement

• Prepareaccuratemonthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc performance reporting, including variance commentary and management-ready summaries.

• Clean,validate, and structure operational datasets for dashboards, automated reporting, performance calculations,complianceobligationsand portfolio benchmarking.

• Support project onboarding and the transition from construction to operations byvalidatingmonitoring configurations, equipment hierarchies, expected-performance models, and available technical documentation.

• ImproveAI tools,dashboards, calculations, documentation, and analytical workflows; support senior team members with performance testing, degradation studies, warranty analysis, and complex root-cause investigations.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics, computer science, physics, renewable energy, or a related technical discipline, with 1–3 years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience analyzing time-series or operational data, including the ability toidentifydata gaps, outliers, sensor issues, and inconsistent timestamps; advanced Excel skills and workingproficiencyin Python or SQL.

• Demonstrated ability to investigate technical issues, quantify performance impacts, communicate findings clearly, and follow actions through resolution across multiple priorities.

• Working knowledge of solar PV or BESS operations, electrical systems, SCADA/DASdata, and core performance concepts such as availability, performance ratio, capacity factor, efficiency, degradation, and lost energy.

Preferred

• Experience withAI platforms,PVsyst, Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, AVEVA PI, Power Factors, AlsoEnergy, OEM monitoring portals, or BMS/EMS platforms; familiarity with utility-scale or commercial and industrial renewable assets.

• Exposure to BESS capacity testing, round-trip efficiency, state-of-charge and state-of-health analysis, battery degradation, warranty compliance, solar performance testing, or revenue-impact analysis.
