The pay range for this position is $18.50-25.50 paid hourly, offers will be based on the successful candidate's experience.

Role and Responsibilities

Analyst I (Chemistry)

  • Sample Analysis – Perform assigned sample determination utilizing various analytical equipment, basic instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques, in accordance with standard operating procedures, including analysis, data evaluation, and reporting, ensuring that all method required quality control protocols be met.
  • Review sample work list and schedule daily work, maintaining regular laboratory turn-around time including priority sample scheduling.
  • Prepare samples according to standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare calibration and quality control standards.
  • Perform analytical steps in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Record quality control standards preparation, weight of samples, dilutions, spiked sample preparations, and analytical sequences in the appropriate logbooks/Element.
  • Review results to verify that minimum quality control requirements are met, calculate results, and report results in Element.
  • Submit raw data packages for approval, according to department procedures.
  • Maintain quality control charts, as required by each method.
  • Report analytical results and quality control data in a manner that maximizes efficiency.
  • Maintain instrumentation and equipment on a regular basis.
  • Notify technical services and department supervisor when equipment failure occurs, or when major maintenance is required.
  • Document all maintenance in appropriate logbooks.
  • Ensure sufficient supply of consumables, including reagents, standards, disposable items, and parts.
  • Order all required items through the supply ordering process.
  • Maintain standards log book for calibration standard preparation, spiking and surrogate solutions, etc.
  • Maintain method run (sequence) logs.
  • Maintain sample preparation/extraction logs.
  • Maintain instrument maintenance logs.
  • Maintain media logs.
  • Maintain refrigerators, freezers and incubators temperature logs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related Science field and 2 years’ applicable experience.
