Xcel Energy in Minnesota seeks a Switching Coordinator to develop, coordinate, and schedule electrical switching procedures for distribution operations. You’ll work with control center and field teams to produce safe, efficient plans and oversee approvals through execution.
The role emphasizes strong communication, meticulous planning, and teamwork to keep the grid reliable. Prior Trouble Man or Lineman experience is preferred; Oracle NMS experience is a plus.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of electrical distribution operations by developing, coordinating, and scheduling switching procedures that keep the power grid running smoothly. Working at the intersection of planning and execution, this role requires close collaboration with control center personnel and field operations teams to create accurate switching plans that protect both personnel and equipment. The coordinator serves as a vital communication hub, translating operational needs into detailed procedures, facilitating approvals, and providing ongoing support during plan execution. This position offers the opportunity to leverage field experience in a coordination capacity while developing new skills in operations planning and system-wide coordination within a stable, team-oriented environment.
Previous experience as a Trouble Man or Lineman is required, with five or more years in these roles strongly preferred. Experience with Oracle NMS is beneficial but not required.
