Objective:
  1. Assist senior research analysts in weekly publications, including idea generation, writing, and analysis, as well as presentation of client materials.
  2. Become the go-to person for internal and external data requests such as prepayment history, issuance, origination, and demand.
  3. Develop or enhance subject matter expertise within Agency MBS.
  4. Improve data collection and automation, and enhance existing processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Process large datasets—collecting, aggregating, cleaning, analyzing—and interpret the results. Spot idiosyncrasies and trends to generate trade ideas.
  • Use statistical measures to interpret the significance of trends.
  • Summarize data findings and contribute to the weekly Agency MBS publication, commenting on market trends and developments. Develop a strong writing style and financial literacy.
  • Create marketing presentations for client meetings and conferences, developing proficiency in PowerPoint and basic Excel charting.
  • Automate processes such as data collection, sorting, and charting; develop regular reports on topics like CMO takeout, TBA float, and MBS attribution.
  • Engage with the trading desk to relay market insights and understand different sectors and markets (TBAs, Pools, CMOs, Derivatives).
  • Manage monthly prepayment data flow, from data release to commentary and chartbook production, utilizing Python skills for data analysis and visualization.
  • Use models to forecast and report on gross mortgage origination trends.
  • Perform ad hoc requests such as data collection, model runs, and basic forecasting for the trading desk.
  • Collaborate with Securitized Products Strategy and Rates Strategy teams to develop cohesive cross-asset views.
  • Build relationships with clients, traders, salespeople, and research team members at the analyst level.
Requirements:
  • 0-3 years of experience working in Agency MBS or Rates Fixed Income.
  • Strong skills in Excel and SQL; Python skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, YieldBook, and prepayment modeling is advantageous.

Shift: 1st shift (United States of America)

Hours Per Week: 40

Pay Range: $70,000 - $175,000 annually, based on experience, education, and skills. Discretionary incentive eligible.
