Short Description A major oil and gas client is looking to fill a Sr Project Analyst role on a short-term contract basis. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, technically proficient in accounting, and proactive in challenging existing processes and developing practical solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial visibility.
Essential
- Participate in preparing monthly internal and external reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform financial analysis, identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities, and translate financial data into meaningful insights for management and operational stakeholders
- Partner with Project Managers and project teams to analyze project profitability, margins, cost performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities
- Prepare and review month-end close entries, estimates, accruals, reclassifications, and other accounting adjustments. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and data integrity issues, including identification of root causes and implementation of corrective actions.
- Participate in bid and proposal reviews, providing financial analysis and assessing accounting, profitability, cash flow, and financial risk considerations.
- Apply strong technical accounting knowledge and judgment to evaluate accounting matters and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
- Lead and support variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, account reviews, and financial investigations, identifying underlying business drivers.
- Assist with SOX compliance, control documentation and testing, audit requirements, and external or regulatory reporting and compliance activities
- Help drive the consistent implementation and application of financial policies, accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls throughout the organization
- Support asset management, working capital initiatives, customer collections, and other activities aimed at improving cash flow and financial performance
- Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and improve financial and accounting processes. Lead or support implementation of improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality
- Support tax reporting requirements and other statutory or regulatory requirements as needed
- Work effectively across finance, operations, project management, and other functional teams in a geographically dispersed organization.
Requirements
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Six (6) to Ten (10) years of relevant Accounting and/or Finance experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to develop sophisticated financial models, perform large-data-set analysis, and build scenario-based model
- Experience working with enterprise financial systems and extracting, reconciling, and analyzing information from multiple data sources
DESIRED
- Experience with project-based, engineering, offshore, energy, manufacturing, or other operationally complex businesses.
- Experience supporting or implementing process automation, financial systems improvements, or digital transformation initiatives
- Familiarity with reporting under local statutory reporting requirements
- Working knowledge of PSFT, WDA, or Oracle
- International or multi-entity accounting experience
- Ability to understand the big picture while maintaining strong attention to detail and financial accuracy.
