Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
  • Minimum of 9 semester hours of Accounting coursework.
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial banking, credit analysis, financial analysis, or commercial lending.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and ability to interpret financial information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete structured training in commercial lending, financial statement analysis, credit risk management, underwriting fundamentals, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Develop proficiency in financial spreading, cash flow analysis, global debt service calculations, covenant analysis, and risk identification.
  • Build a strong understanding of Susser Bank credit policy, approval processes, regulatory expectations, and credit culture.
  • Analyze financial statements and perform credit analysis for new, renewal, and existing commercial credit relationships.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported credit memoranda, financial spreads, risk assessments, and transaction summaries.
  • Identify material credit risks and recommend appropriate transaction structures.
  • Participate in borrower discussions, diligence activities, and underwriting reviews while gaining exposure to both C&I and CRE transactions.
  • Support all phases of commercial lending, including origination, underwriting, approval, closing, servicing, annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate credit files and current financial information.
  • Assist with portfolio management activities and ongoing risk monitoring initiatives.
  • Develop a practical understanding of how credit, lending, loan operations, and servicing functions work together to support client relationships.
  • Participate in rotational experiences across Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Portfolio Management, Lending, and other key business units.
  • Collaborate with Bankers, Credit Officers, other bank departments and executive leadership.
  • Participate in mentorship opportunities, leadership development activities, team-building events, and executive networking sessions.
  • Gain exposure to multiple commercial banking career paths while developing a broad understanding of the Bank's business model.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and initiative in completing assignments.
  • Seek and incorporate feedback to continuously improve technical and professional skills.

Job description

Susser Bank, a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial Texas regional bank, is seeking high-performing, early-career professionals for its 2027 Banker Development Program. This full-time, 100% in-office development program is designed for individuals who aspire to build a long-term career in commercial banking through rigorous credit training, meaningful transaction experience, executive mentorship, and hands-on exposure across the commercial lending platform.

Participants will gain exposure to the complete commercial lending lifecycle, including financial statement analysis, underwriting, approval, closing, servicing, annual reviews, portfolio management, and client relationship development. Analysts will develop technical credit skills while building professional judgment, communication abilities, and business acumen necessary to become future bankers, credit professionals, and the next generation of leadership at Susser Bank.

Key Responsibilities
Formal Credit Training
  • Complete structured training in commercial lending, financial statement analysis, credit risk management, underwriting fundamentals, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Develop proficiency in financial spreading, cash flow analysis, global debt service calculations, covenant analysis, and risk identification.
  • Build a strong understanding of Susser Bank credit policy, approval processes, regulatory expectations, and credit culture.
Transaction & Underwriting Support
  • Analyze financial statements and perform credit analysis for new, renewal, and existing commercial credit relationships.
