Job summary

Qorvo, Inc. in San Jose, CA is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to contribute to the design of LNA, switch, DSA, SOI analog blocks, and RF modules.

You will balance performance with size, cost, and schedule while collaborating with a team on schematics, simulations, and lab data. The role requires hands-on coursework in analog/RF design, layout, and software like Cadence Virtuoso, PVS, and Explorer, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Student must have completed analog/RF circuit design coursework focusing on LDOs, bandgaps, differential amplifiers and operational amplifiers.
  • Student must have completed analog layout coursework with Common Centroid, Interdigitated layouts and dummy devices.
  • Student must have software experience with Cadence Virtuoso, PVS, Assembler and Explorer.
  • Software exposure: ADS, AWR, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Dynamic Link, Python, Spotfire, Matlab
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Self-Starter with good communication skills
  • Effective organization for planning and scheduling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to enjoy working in fast paced work environment

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design of LNA, switch, DSA, SOI analog blocks and RF modules.
  • Meet performance requirements while considering size, cost, footprint, and schedule.
  • Produce designs with challenging specifications and trade studies.
  • Adapt to new customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and quality.
  • Work as a member of a team to contribute design schematics, simulations, and real lab data.
  • Work with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulated data to real lab data
  • Keep a weekly summary log on progress and performance.

Qorvo’s Analog Design Engineering Internshipsare offered in our High Performance Analog, Advanced Cellular, and Connectivity and Sensors business groups. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Contribute to design of multiple functional blocks including LNA, switch, DSA, SOI analog blocks, and RF Modules.
  • Meet performance requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, and schedule.
  • Produce designs with challenging specifications that may require trade studies to make decisions on the path of the design.
  • Adapt to new customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and quality
  • Work as a member of a team to contribute design schematics, simulations, and real lab data
  • Work with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulated data to real lab data
  • Keep a weekly summary log on progress and performance.
Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Student must have completed some analog/RF circuit design course work with focus on LDO(Low dropout Regulator), bandgaps circuits, differential amplifiers, and operational amplifiers.
  • Student must have completed some analog layout courses with focus on good layout techniques like Common Centroid layout, Interdigitated layout and use of dummy devices.
  • Student must have software experience with Cadence Virtuoso, PVS and Assembler and Explorer
  • Software Exposure: ADS, AWR, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Dynamic Link, Python, Spotfire, Matlab
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Self-Starter with good communication skills
  • Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information
  • Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products
  • Be able to enjoy working in fast paced work environment

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience: $36/hr - $48/hr, relevant for the California Bay Area (subject to change dependent on physical location)

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Qorvo reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as external competitiveness and internal comparability.
