Job summary
Brooksource seeks an AMR Engineer to support automation initiatives within a Tier 1 automotive supplier's manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include implementing, optimizing, and maintaining Autonomous Mobile Robot systems for material handling, production support, and logistics automation.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years in AMRs or industrial automation, with knowledge of navigation, LiDAR, sensors, PLCs, and WMS/MES/ERP integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in robotics/engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience with AMRs, AGVs, robotics, or automation systems.
- Experience implementing AMR platforms in manufacturing/warehouse.
- Strong understanding of mobile robotics: navigation, LiDAR, vision, localization/mapping.
- Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, industrial networking, and automation controls.
- Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and system schematics.
- Experience cross-functionally in manufacturing operations.
- Strong problem-solving in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and optimize AMR systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Lead deployment of new AMRs, automated material delivery routes, charging stations, and traffic management systems.
- Troubleshoot AMR-related issues including navigation, fleet management, network connectivity, sensors, and safety systems.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.
- Partner with Operations, Logistics, and Plant Engineering teams to improve material flow, throughput, productivity, and overall plant efficiency.
- Configure facility maps, workflows, traffic zones, pickup/drop-off locations, and mission scheduling within AMR software platforms.
- Support integration of AMRs with manufacturing equipment, conveyors, WMS, MES, and other automation technologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including system layouts, operating procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and engineering standards.
- Train maintenance, logistics, and production personnel on AMR operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
- Ensure AMR systems comply with OSHA, MIOSHA, and internal safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing objectives.

Brooksource is seeking an AMR Engineer to support advanced automation initiatives within a Tier 1 Automotive Suppliers manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for the implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) systems used for material handling, production support, and logistics automation.
The ideal candidate has experience working with AMR platforms, industrial automation technologies, and manufacturing operations. This engineer will partner with Production, Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance, and IT teams to improve material flow, increase operational efficiency, and support smart factory initiatives.
- Design, configure, and optimize Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment

- Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience supporting AMRs, AGVs, robotics, or industrial automation systems
- Experience implementing, programming, configuring, or supporting AMR platforms in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Strong understanding of mobile robotics technologies including: Autonomous navigation, LiDAR, Vision systems, Localization and mapping
- Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, industrial networking, and automation controls
- Understanding of wireless communication protocols and industrial network infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and system schematics
- Experience working cross-functionally within manufacturing operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience with AMR platforms such as MiR, OTTO Motors, Seegrid, Fetch Robotics, Geek+, or similar technologies
- Experience integrating AMRs with WMS, MES, ERP, or warehouse automation systems
- Experience with Fleet management software, troubleshooting automated systems and driving root cause analysis
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, smart factory, or digital manufacturing initiatives
- Experience supporting new automation launches, expansions, or facility retrofits
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Experience leading automation projects from concept through implementation
- Familiarity with simulation, facility mapping, and fleet optimization tools
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
