Job summary

Winchester Ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO, seeks an Ammunition Manufacturing Technician to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain high-speed automated equipment. You will monitor performance with PLC and HMI, perform calibrations, and conduct quality inspections to ensure safe, compliant production.

Strong mechanical skills and willingness to work weekends/nights are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability and willingness to work assigned shifts, including weekends and nights as required.
• Experience working with mechanical equipment, manufacturing systems, maintenance operations, automotive diagnostics, or related technical fields.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Experience with machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, or saws is preferred.
• Understanding of industrial control systems, automation, PLCs, or related technologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on high-speed automated ammunition manufacturing equipment.
• Utilize PLC and HMI systems to monitor equipment performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform equipment adjustments, calibrations, and process controls to ensure safe, efficient production operations.
• Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments and other testing methods to verify product specifications.
• Analyze production, quality, and safety issues through root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.
