Job summary

City Brewing Company in Memphis, TN is seeking an Ammonia Technician to operate and maintain steam and gas boilers and ammonia refrigeration systems. You will monitor equipment, perform water analysis, and keep detailed maintenance and safety records in a fast‑paced power house environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1st class licenses, HazWOPER, and CMMS experience. Training on site and a 24/7 shift schedule are provided to support continuous operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain steam and gas high‑pressure boilers safely.
• Monitor ammonia refrigeration equipment including chillers and towers.
• Operate air compressors, dryers, water softening and dosing systems.
• Record data, keep logs and ensure compliance documents.
• Perform routine maintenance on pumps, valves and lines.
• Support hazardous materials handling and emergency response.
• Keep work areas clean and in GMP compliance.

Job Summary

The Ammonia Technician is responsible for general operation and upkeep of steam water tube boilers and monitoring and operation of air and ammonia compressor equipment, performing water analysis and keeping related documentation. This position is a critical part of City Brewery's Powerhouse Team ensuring equipment is safely, efficiently operating.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains automatically controlled, gas-fired, high-pressure boilers
• Operates and maintains ammonia refrigeration equipment including chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and pumps
• Operates and maintains air compressors and air dryers
• Operates and maintains water softening, RO, and chlorine dosing systems
• Takes test samples and controls the addition of chemicals to water systems
• Operates and maintains auxiliary equipment such as feed water pumps
• Maintains proper water level and required steam pressure and supplies steam to meet plant load requirements
• Responsible for routine maintenance of pumps, valves, lines, and other utility equipment
• Monitors fire annunciation panel and computer monitor readouts of boiler room and refrigeration building equipment
• Performs cleaning and housekeeping assignments and any such duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
• Monitors and maintains all needed supplies and parts for safe and efficient operation of boiler room (Ammonia Compressors) and auxiliary equipment
• Operates and maintains CO2 purification and collection system
• Operates and maintains well pump and diesel fire pump
• Performs all record-keeping duties, including data logging and filing, of boiler room equipment, maintenance procedures, ammonia compliance documentation, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous events
• Required involvement in HAZMAT and Emergency Response Team
• Clean and maintain the work area
• Perform all duties within GMP standards
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, required
• Required to complete and obtain Shelby County 1 st class steam and refrigeration operator licenses
• HAZWOPER certification, required
• Experience using CMMS to document work and access work assignments
• Understanding and working knowledge of steam and gas high-pressure boilers
• Understanding and working knowledge of refrigeration principles and equipment
• Understanding and working knowledge of air compressors, air dryers, soft water systems, cooling towers, pumps, valves, and auxiliary boiler house and Ammonia refrigeration equipment
• Understanding and working knowledge of water testing principles
• Understanding and working knowledge of computers and computerized equipment
• Ability to work flexible shifts as needed to support a 24/7 operation; includes evening, weekends, and holidays
