Job summary

The Swan Food Company in New York is seeking a full-time Refrigeration Maintenance Technician to perform daily inspections and repairs on industrial refrigeration systems in a food manufacturing environment. Starting pay is $25.00 per hour for the 1st shift, with comprehensive benefits, safety training, and opportunities for advancement as you support plant operations and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; a two-year degree in a specialized maintenance trade is preferred.
• 0 to 1 year of related experience, ideally in an ammonia refrigeration environment.
• Knowledge of refrigeration maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Qualify for HAZMAT certification and boiler license.
• Adhere to all safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment (air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, freon units) for optimal operation and safety.
• Perform repairs and overhauls on ammonia refrigeration systems (motors, pumps, switches, safety controls, solenoids, fuses).
• Maintain boilers, evaporators, condensers, water treatment, airflow, and glycol pumps.
• Assist with equipment setup/teardown, fabrication, and installation of new plant machinery for major repairs and construction projects.
• Follow safety protocols including LOTO, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection; participate in Hazmat training.
