Job summary

The Simplot Company is seeking an on-site Refrigeration Maintenance Technician for the Grand Forks facility. You will perform operational and preventive maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC, and related equipment, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining refrigeration logs, defrosting evaporators, following lockout/tagout procedures, and supporting plant safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2.5 years of related experience in a maintenance, mechanical, refrigeration, or industrial environment.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and cooling equipment and ability to perform routine maintenance (filters, belts, minor repairs).
• Working knowledge of refrigeration fundamentals and the refrigeration cycle.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience and ability to safely use tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs refrigeration operational and maintenance duties for the Grand Forks site. Performs defrost on all freezer evaporators.
• Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition.
• Ensures that work orders are completed as assigned.
• Performs responsibilities during plant evacuation or other emergencies, including monitoring the fire sprinkler system.
• Ensures accuracy of data reporting systems such as refrigeration logs and fire protection systems.
• Works on troubleshooting a large ammonia facility and related preventative maintenance tasks requiring two or more employees.
• Operates and maintains the compressed air system, HVAC and AMU units, low oxygen systems and the Fire Protection System.
• Supports progress of the plant process safety management system (PSM).
• Performs basic duties using an ammonia full-face gas mask; certification is required.
• Performs acetylene cutting and heating safely when repairing and fabricating equipment.
• Understands lockout/tagout procedures for electrical and valve shut off.
• Ensures compliance with company policies and training activities.
