Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer / Refrigeration Project Engineer to support ammonia refrigeration systems across sites. You will design, implement, and optimize CAPEX projects, ensuring safety and compliance with PSM/OSHA standards. Travel to Pilgrim’s facilities is required to support installations and commissioning.

The role emphasizes solid engineering calculations, P&ID interpretation, and cross-site collaboration to improve process safety and performance across the network.

Qualifications

• Experience in the design and construction of Ammonia Refrigeration systems.
• Competent with AutoCAD.
• English/Spanish bilingual a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and Block Flow diagrams.
• Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as required.

Responsibilities

• Promote Safe Processes, Projects, Products and People through OSHA practices.
• Develop and implement CAPEX Ammonia Refrigeration projects across Pilgrim’s sites.
• Design refrigeration systems including equipment selection, piping, controls, and sizing.
• Troubleshoot ammonia systems and advise on safe, effective operation.
• Perform system calculations (heat loads, mass/energy balances, ventilation).
• Lead or support PSM/RMP processes and incident investigations as needed.
