Job summary

YMCA of Central Maryland, Inc. is seeking a VISTA Coordinator to support volunteer recruitment, engagement, and community partnership initiatives under supervision of the Associate Executive Director Mentoring.

The AmeriCorps member will gain hands-on experience in volunteer recruitment, relationship building, and program coordination to attract new volunteers and strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, and corporate groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement creative strategies to recruit new volunteers through events, digital campaigns, and partnerships.
• Respond to volunteer inquiries, manage applications, and communicate with applicants throughout the process.
• Assist in planning and facilitating volunteer orientation sessions to prepare volunteers for their roles.
• Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and align recruitment with program objectives.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and help track hours, engagement, and impact.
• Coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation activities to strengthen engagement and retention.
• Support storytelling and communications by collecting testimonials, photos, and impact stories for social media and newsletters.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director Mentoring or other assignedassociate, the VISTA Coordinator will support the organization’s volunteer recruitment,engagement, and community partnership initiatives. The AmeriCorps member will gainhands-on experience in volunteer recruitment, relationship building, communityoutreach, and program coordination while developing and implementing strategies toattract new volunteers, strengthen partnerships with schools, communityorganizations, and corporate groups, and foster meaningful volunteer experiences thatsupport the Y’s mission and community impact.
