Job summary

Highlands Housing Corporation in Monticello, Kentucky seeks an AmeriCorps Homeownership Specialist to support future homeowners by coordinating volunteers for construction and repair projects, and to assist with program outreach and education under the Director of Housing Services.

This 12‑month service position begins September 1, 2026, and ends August 31, 2026, at 37.5 hours per week. The role emphasizes helping families achieve homeownership and reporting on program outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and the ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach to increase awareness of Highlands Housing's affordable housing programs and services. Assist clients with understanding and completing applications for homeownership programs
  • Assist with homebuyer education activities that help prepare individuals and families for successful homeownership.
  • Support clients by providing general information about the homebuying process and available housing resources.
  • Assist clients with budgeting activities and homeownership readiness tasks under the guidance of Highlands Housing staff.
  • Connect individuals and families with appropriate community resources and service providers through referrals.
  • Support partnerships with local organizations serving individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity
  • Promote homeownership programs, creating marketing materials, managing social media, and help repair projects, homebuyer education events, and community engagement activities.
  • Collect, maintain, and report data related to client participation, volunteer activities, and program outcomes.
  • Provide administrative and follow-up support to clients and volunteers as assigned.
