THE OPPORTUNITY

The Red Hook Community Justice Center (the Justice Center) is the nation’s first multi-jurisdictional community court, hearing criminal,housingand family matters under one roof with a single judge. The Justice Center’s mission is to solve community problems: strengthening families, empowering youth, preventing evictions, addressing crime when it occurs, and working to prevent crime before it takes place.

The Center’s Youth and Community Initiatives department is seeking an AmeriCorps Coordinator to oversee the Red Hook Community Resilience Corps, an AmeriCorps national service program that engages individual in a year of service in their community and serves as a pipeline to career, training and educational opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Community Initiatives the AmeriCorps Coordinator willbe responsible formanaging various administrative tasks, providing member experience support and community engagement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Administrative Support:
  • Manage day-to-day administrative tasks related to the AmeriCorps program;
  • Facilitate the recruitment, enrollment, and training of AmeriCorps members;
  • Provide ongoing support to members ensuring a positive experience;
  • Collaborate with HR to manage personnel matters related to AmeriCorps members;
  • Ensure compliance with program guidelines, policies, regulations, and audits;
  • Coordinate logistics for AmeriCorps member service activities, events, and training sessions;
  • Maintain accurateand up-to-date records of member documentation;
  • Support the department’s programming and initiatives, as needed;
  • Member Experience and Retention:
  • Develop strategies to enhance the overall experience of AmeriCorps members;
  • Provide individualized support and coaching to participants, including one-on-one and group sessions to build resiliency, self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and work toward personal goals;
  • Implement retention initiatives to ensure members complete their terms of service;
  • Assist members with professional development and educational opportunities;
  • Work closely with Red Hook Housing Resource Center and CJI staff to align AmeriCorps activities with organizational objectives;
  • Community Outreach and Networking:
  • Collaborate with internal departments to integrate AmeriCorps members into existing initiatives;
  • Plan and execute community events including but not limited to college and recruitment fairs and service projects;
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to attract AmeriCorps member applicants;
  • Represent the program at community meetings, conferences, and events;
  • Build and maintain relationships with local Red Hook community organizations, educational institutions, and potential program partners;
  • Attend networking events to promote the program and establish connections within the community;

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position is$58,000 - $74,300.00 and iscommensuratewith experience.
