Job summary

Together in Omaha, NE seeks an AmeriCorps Community Access Coordinator to expand regional food access beyond pantry operations, coordinating orders, home deliveries, and partner distributions. Responsibilities

  • Assist participants in scheduling pantry pick-up appointments.
  • Coordinate daily participant pick-up orders with pantry staff.
  • Prepare and verify participant orders for accuracy.
  • Contact participants regarding scheduled pick-ups, reminders, or changes.
  • Provide information about Together services and community resources.
  • Help identify barriers to food access and connect participants with appropriate service options.
  • Support priority shopping hours for older adults, individuals with disabilities, families with young children, and other participants who may benefit from a lower-traffic shopping experience.
  • Welcome participants during priority shopping hours and assist with navigation, food selection, and resource referrals.
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating emergency food orders for individuals and families experiencing urgent food needs.
  • Respond to same-day emergency food requests under staff supervision.
  • Coordinate emergency pick-ups and referrals to appropriate community resources.
  • Ensure emergency food assistance is documented accurately and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with staff and partner agencies to connect participants with additional supportive services when appropriate.
  • Coordinate home delivery schedules and participant communication.
  • Assist with route preparation and organization.
  • Support volunteers assisting with deliveries.
  • Ensure delivery documentation is completed accurately.
  • Monitor participant satisfaction and report concerns to staff.
  • Prepare food orders for community partner agencies.
  • Coordinate distribution schedules with partner organizations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading partner deliveries.
  • Maintain communication with partner agencies regarding inventory and scheduling.

AmeriCorps Member - Community Access Coordinator

Position Summary

The AmeriCorps Community Access Coordinator will expand access to nutritious food by supporting Together's Regional Community Access Program. Rather than focusing solely on pantry operations, this position helps ensure that food reaches individuals and families through multiple access points, including scheduled pantry pick-ups, priority shopping hours, emergency food assistance, home delivery, community partner distribution sites, and occasional weekend distributions. Members will help reduce barriers related to transportation, mobility, work schedules, and unexpected crises by connecting participants with the food access option that best meets their needs.

The AmeriCorps Member will serve alongside Together staff, volunteers, and community partners to improve food security while providing excellent customer service in a trauma-informed, participant-centered environment.

Service Term

Community Access & Participant Support
  • Assist participants in scheduling pantry pick-up appointments.
  • Coordinate daily participant pick-up orders with pantry staff.
