Job summary

Trinity University’s College Advising Corps is seeking a full-time College Advisor for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position involves providing one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to students, organizing events to promote college applications, and fostering relationships with local high schools.

Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, experience in a similar advisory role, and strong communication skills. A monthly housing stipend and an Education Award upon completion of service hours are included.

Job description

College Advisor – Trinity University College Advising Corps

Trinity University’s College Advising Corps program is seeking College Advisers for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. This full‑time position will be contingent upon continuous grant funding and is open to qualified individuals who reside in Texas and have transportation to the assigned high school(s) in SanAntonio and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑on‑one admissions and financial aid advice to students or families seeking assistance.
  • Organize group events that encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities.
  • Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school.
  • Assist in the efforts of other advisers within the service area.
  • Assist in the assessment and long‑term sustainability of the program.
  • Maintain expertise in admissions and financial‑aid advising (extensive training will be provided).
  • Commit to weekend and evening engagements as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a high‑school environment in a similar advisory role.
  • Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers for communication, research, and administrative record‑keeping.
  • Will live within the service area and be actively involved in the SanAntonio community.
  • Must have personal transportation to the school site and related events.
  • Experience working with high‑school students preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates preferred but not required.
  • Trinity graduates who are first in their family to graduate from college are highly encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Benefits

This paid AmeriCorps position includes a monthly housing stipend of $2,745, AmeriCorps health care, and paid sick and vacation leave during the 11‑month appointment. Upon successful completion of the required 1,700 service hours, the adviser may receive an Education Award of $7,395 to apply toward federal undergraduate or graduate student loans. A second year of service may be offered upon successful completion.
