Americas Sales Director, ISV Embedded Solutions

We operate with a distributed team of 1200+ colleagues across 75+ countries, with minimal office-based roles, meeting in person 2-4 times a year in interesting global locations.

The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring a Sales Director, ISV Embedded Solutions in various locations within the Americas and EMEA to foster partnerships for licensing and embedding Ubuntu and Ubuntu Pro into software and SaaS solutions.

Canonical supports ISV customers and alliances to build on Ubuntu and Ubuntu Pro, enabling fast, reliable, secure, and compliant solutions. We offer extensive open source software, SLA support, cryptographic compliance, and security standards including HIPAA and FedRAMP. Our partnerships span major cloud providers, hardware manufacturers, IoT, and silicon vendors, ensuring Ubuntu's seamless deployment across multi-cloud and physical appliances. Leading AI brands leverage Ubuntu Pro to focus on their core products.

Location:

Multiple openings across the Americas and EMEA time zones.

Role responsibilities:
  • Drive embedded support and licensing sales with ISVs to exceed quarterly and annual targets.
  • Manage customer and partner relationships throughout the sales and support lifecycle.
  • Engage deeply with the open source ecosystem.
  • Develop strategic partnerships aligned with Canonical's goals.
  • Collaborate with product management for platform enhancements for ISVs.
  • Negotiate contracts with ISV partners and customers.
  • Shape messaging and content for ISV partners and customers.
Candidate requirements:
  • Strong academic background from high school through university or equivalent experience.
  • Degree in a technical field or relevant alternative experience.
  • Ability to build strategic relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Passion for technology, experience with software, SaaS, Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), open source, cloud, and containers.
  • Experience in lead generation and business development within software sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability skills.
  • Exceptional business English writing and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of exceeding commitments and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
