Job Description:

Responsible for delivering and setting up food and beverage service in guest rooms. Assist in completing side work duties. Review orders for proper presentation and completeness prior to delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure that all food items requested and necessary supplies are obtained and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the delivery schedules of amenities, and food and beverage orders to best accommodate the guests.
  • Provide direction and support to bus persons.
  • Assist in cleaning the guest corridors when returning to room service.
  • Facilitate the immediate accommodations of guest requests.
  • Follow all applicable safety precautions applicable to food service areas.
  • Treat guest with courtesy and respect.
  • Ensure that all items are presented in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Clock guest check out and in.
  • Serve beverages to guests upon delivery.
  • Perform side work to include, but not limited to filling sugar bowls, salt/pepper shakers, folding napkins and general organization of storage areas.
  • Complete service preparation functions as required.
  • Obtain food and beverage orders from any of the hotel outlets as requested by the guest.
  • Know the location off all rooms, suites and meeting rooms, as well as the best route for deliveries.
  • Pickup dirty dishes from the guest’s room.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Provide information on all outlet menus and their hours of operation.
  • Be familiar with upcoming events and related hospitality functions, bars, and deliveries.
  • Understand room service standards.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance.
  • Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
  • Work requires teamwork with other staff members.
  • Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification, specifically a health card and alcohol awareness card.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public.
  • Shifts may vary based on business needs.
  • Must be able to work inside and continuously maneuver in and around and throughout the restaurant and property.
  • Must be able to access kitchen areas when picking up food orders.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Must be able to balance a food tray, weighing up to 25 pounds, above shoulder level with one arm.
  • Must be able to lift, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, pull, and push when necessary.
  • Must be able to push / pull 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle more than one function at a time by being well organized and attentive to details.
  • Must be able to tolerate hot temperatures in the kitchen areas.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke.
