The Pre/Post-Operative RN delivers comprehensive nursing care for ambulatory or inpatient procedures, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure safety and throughput.

Qualifications

• Pre- / Post-Operative RN delivers comprehensive nursing care for ambulatory or inpatient surgery.
• Dual role spans pre-operative prep and post-anesthesia care.
• Operates in a fast-paced environment with collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists and OR staff.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative Care: assess and prepare patients, review histories, verify allergies and meds.
• Safety Protocols: verify consent, planned procedure, and surgical site markers.
• Clinical Interventions: insert IVs, draw labs, administer pre-operative meds.
• Collaboration & Handoff: communicate critical information to surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Post-Operative Monitoring: monitor and stabilize patients in PACU, track vitals and recovery.
• Discharge Readiness: evaluate criteria for ambulatory discharge.
• Patient Education: teach perioperative process and home care after discharge.
• Documentation: maintain meticulous EHR records of assessments and meds.
• Environment Maintenance: perform safety checks and manage inventory.
