Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program with an ADN.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications: RN licensure by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing interventions to assigned patients per the medical plan of care using the nursing process.
• Schedules patients' appointments, tests, and procedures; reinforces physician instructions.
• Provides patient education and documents responses in the medical record.
• Ensures informed consents for research or treatment are obtained.
• Triages patient phone inquiries per protocols and documents actions.
• Supervises licensed vocational nurses and other staff as needed.
• Proficient in electronic medical record documentation.
• Participates in policy/procedural changes based on nursing expertise.
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during exams and procedures.
• Administers medications as prescribed by physicians.
• Maintains stock of supplies and attends clinical meetings.
• Duties may involve direct patient care or handling human-subject research records.
