Job summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, seeks an RN for Ambulatory Care PRN. The role involves preop assessment, patient education, IV therapy, site verification, and collaboration with surgeons and staff to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Candidates must have an RN license with 1 year of acute care nursing experience and obtain ACLS/PALS within designated timelines. Excellent teamwork and patient-centered care are key to success.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
• RN licensure or nursing degree required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and perioperative care.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds and site verification.
• Participate in time-out, briefing and debriefing per universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team of providers and nurses.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition and follow-up.
