Job summary

BJC Medical Group at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support the Arrhythmia Center and Valve Clinic.

You will triage patients, handle inquiries, coordinate care, educate families, and assist with anticoagulation clearances and FMLA paperwork. Work with a team of cardiac specialists, including electrophysiologists, and participate in remote device interrogations as needed.

Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of RN experience with Cardiology or Electrophysiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-office and remote interrogations and reprogramming of cardiac devices as needed.
• Complete daily reviews of remote transmissions and follow-up for implanted devices.
• Triage and communicate care plans to providers and patients in a timely manner.
• Document patient contacts and device information in the EMR; ensure billing guidelines are followed.

Located on the campus of Missouri Baptist Medical Center, the Nurse Practitioner position will support both our Arrhythmia Center and Valve Clinic. The centers include highly trained and hospital-based specialists. As a nurse practitioner in the centers, you will work alongside our cardiac electrophysiologists and partner with structural heart cardiologists, heart surgeons and interventional cardiologists to care for every type of cardiac condition.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for providing clinical care for patients with implantable cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators and loop devices. Must demonstrate the professional and technical skills required to evaluate patient arrhythmia's and cardiac rhythm management devices, including program settings and troubleshooting. Acquires, maintains, and integrates knowledge of scientific principles and derived technology-based interventions for all cardiac devices.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing in-office and/or remote interrogations and any necessary reprogramming of cardiac devices. Including the interpretation of arrhythmia's, troubleshoot, and reprogram settings of pacemakers and defibrillators according to patients needs and department protocols. Independently documents instance of patient care in electronic medical record. Assures the accuracy and completeness of documentation and adherence to billing guidelines.
• Performs independent daily reviews of remote transmissions from implanted devices. Completes trans-telephonic checks on patient devices requiring follow up in between office visits to assess basic function and patient status. Correlates information with the patients clinical condition to assist in the management of arrhythmias. Provides reports to physicians and completes required follow up.
• Triages and prioritizes patient plan of care and communicates information to providers/patients in a timely manner. Demonstrates triage skills pertinent to determining normal and abnormal conditions. Reviews patient information including device, health history, medications and health status. Provides appropriate education and support to patient and/or family.
• Responsible for documenting patient contacts regarding any company recalls including more frequent monitoring and taking appropriate actions for any required device changes.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
