Job summary

The University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY is seeking staff to support outpatient clinics in the UR Imaging department. The role entails assisting providers during exams, handling diagnostic equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Position includes evening shifts, room prep, specimen collection, and data entry into the EMR with RN oversight. Requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of service-oriented experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting required
• Associate's degree preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists providers during exams under general direction from Nursing Leadership.
• Performs a variety of clinical tasks in outpatient clinics including technical, procedural and information systems tasks involving patient care.
• Attaches patient to diagnostic and medical equipment such as dynamapp, pulse oximeter, EKG and monitors.
• Provides information, comfort and care to patients during exams and explains next steps.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available and adheres to infection prevention practices.
• Precepts new employees to the area under RN oversight.
• May assist providers with surgical procedures, prepares room and instrumentation, and assists with specimens and discharge instructions.
• Performs administrative duties in the EMR, schedules and handles registration when assigned.
