Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Ambulatory Clinic Healthcare Associate ensures efficient patient flow by facilitating examinations and treatments in a culturally sensitive manner with excellent customer service. Responsibilities include preparing patients, performing limited procedures, scheduling tests or consultations, maintaining records, organizing clinic/exam rooms, managing supplies and equipment, and assisting medical staff.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  1. Schedule radiology tests, obtain films and reports, prepare laboratory specimens.
  2. Assist physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations as per competency checklist.
  3. Coordinate with healthcare team to implement patient care plans; document patient history as needed.
  4. Record data for procedures and ensure proper documentation in medical records.
  5. Maintain medical records, ensure documentation is complete, distribute reports, and manage filing.
  6. Keep examination rooms clean and organized, stock supplies, and perform required checks on equipment and logs.
  7. Perform clerical duties such as patient greeting, registration, scheduling, pre-certification, insurance processing, financial record keeping, and phone handling.
  8. Assist with simple procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
  9. Take vital signs and perform screening procedures, documenting findings accurately.
  10. Perform professional, clinical, or technical competencies relevant to the assigned department.

Note: These responsibilities are essential but not exhaustive; duties may vary by department or unit.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Enrolled in an accredited nursing program with fundamentals completed, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or science-related field, or
  • Three years of inpatient/rehab/LTC experience under RN supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous medical office experience.

Required Licensure and Certification:

  • CPR/AED/BLS certification.
