Job summary

Nemours is seeking a Cast Tech to join our team in Broomall, PA. The Cast Technician is responsible for all casting procedures and application, adjustment, and removal of soft goods.

The position assists providers in fracture care, splinting, basic surgical procedures, and other patient care services as needed. The role involves data collection for patient intake, preparing patients for provider visits, and educating patients regarding follow up care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association is required (must be completed by the end of the 90-day associate evaluation period).
• Registered Orthopedic Technologist through the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals is required.
• National Board of Certification for Orthopedic Technologists is required.

Responsibilities

• Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and soft goods.
• Instruct patients and guardians in care of casts and orthopedic equipment.
• Maintain inventory of casting materials and supplies.
• Assist orthopedic surgeon/providers with fracture reduction and other procedures.
• Assist with rooming patients and obtaining vital signs.
• Enter patient information and cast supply billing into EMR and ensure documentation (x-rays, labs) is available.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and notify patients.
• Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms.
• Provide cross-coverage to other departments and satellite offices.
• Advise staff on orthopedic devices and equipment.
