Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is recruiting an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist to support Cardiology and Transplant Services in the Heart and Vascular Center at the main campus in Omaha. The role involves leading patient-centered pharmaceutical care across outpatient clinics, with a focus on cardiology and transplant care.

The incumbent will train staff, disseminate knowledge, and collaborate with multiple disciplines to optimize medication use.

Qualifications

• PharmD or equivalent accreditation required or 10 years of pharmacy practice.
• ASHP residency (PGY1 or PGY2) or equivalent ambulatory care experience preferred.
• Nebraska licensure or eligibility prior to start date.
• BLS certification from AHA recognized program required.

Responsibilities

• Lead ambulatory pharmaceutical care in cardiology and transplant clinics.
• Develop and monitor care plans, pharmacotherapy, and drug utilization.
• Provide training and educational support to staff and trainees.
• Educate other disciplines on appropriate drug therapy strategies.

Ambulatory Care Pharmacist for Cardiology and Transplant Services

Position Highlights

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist for Cardiology and Transplant Services to support the outpatient Heart and Lung Transplant Clinics as well as other cardiology clinics (i.e., anticoagulation, electrophysiology, cardiac rehab, and/or heart failure) in the Heart and Vascular Center at Nebraska Medicine. The ambulatory care pharmacist will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient-centered care. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, exhibit strong educational and precepting abilities and be knowledgeable in cardiology and ambulatory care pharmacy services. One must be dedicated to continuous learning coupled with a passion for healing and serving our patients.

Shift

• Full Time and benefits eligible (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
• Monday - Friday from 8:00/8:30 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM
• Location will be our Nebraska Medicine Main Campus.

Ambulatory Care Pharmacist for Cardiology and Transplant Services

Lead provision of patient-oriented pharmaceutical care services including creation and maintenance of pharmaceutical care plan, cost-effective therapeutic drug monitoring, drug utilization, guideline development, and drug use evaluation in assigned clinical teams.

Provide training and educational support for development of clinical skills in professional staff. Responsible for dissemination of new knowledge, utilization trends and outcomes information related to medication use/pharmaceutical care programs at the organization. Lead efforts to educate other disciplines regarding appropriate use of drug therapy.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience required.
• Graduate of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one residency or an ASHP accredited postgraduate year two residency relevant to practice area OR have 4 years of pharmacist experience in the relevant area of practice OR have pharmacist experience within a Nebraska Medicine ambulatory care clinic required.
• Demonstrate excellence in clinical areas as displayed by ability to consistently and completely meet and contribute to updating standards of practice required.
• Maturity and leadership skills required.
• Licensed in the state of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted upon start or transfer required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications

• Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.
